UNAUSTRALIAN
IT'S UNAUSTRALIAN

Dear Member,
In 2010 the current Federal Government was formed by granting the wishes of one Tasmanian MP in order to gain his support.
This MP's proposal of extreme poker machine regulations was not an election issue, no one voted for these changes.
Clubs agree on the need to help problem gamblers, the industry is in the process of developing the ClubSAFE Premium program. Commencement of this self-exclusion multi-venue trial infristructure is all but complete and anticipated for preliminary deployment by the end of May, 2011.
We feel it is unfair that our patrons will need to get a registered licence to play poker machines, and will actually deter the average social gamblers.
Other forms of gambling such as racing, scratchies, sports betting and on-line gambling will have no reforms, and casinos are exempt from many of the propsed regulations.
Profits made by clubs go back to our members in the form of services we provide or subsidise, or the charities and local community organisations we support, along with the employment we provide.
If you feel the same way as us, you still have a chance to have your voice heard, by sending a message to our local MP, the Hon Peter Garrett.
Yours sincerely,
Ken Murray,
President.
